Musical Theatre Competition for singers ages 12 to 18!
This competition was designed to provide young singers in The Lower Mainland (BC, Canada) an opportunity to practice important skills that will help them grow as artists and prepare them in knowing how to present “self-tape” auditions in a profesionnal way. Moreover, in addition to having the chance to win prizes, participants will gain valuable feedback from our two guest judges who are leading figures in our artistic scene.

How to apply:
- Read our rules and regulations at the bottom of this page
- Make sure you are in the correct age range (12 to 18) and able to provide us with a singing video for the selection of the finalists
- Make sure you can attend the finals in case you get selected (at Trinity United Church, 2211 Prairie Ave, Port Coquitlam, BC V3B 4L6 on March 14th 2026.
- Pay the registration fees (before Febuary 15th 2026)
- Fill out the Google form (the video link can be sent at a later time at info@luxaeternatheatre.com, before Febuary 15th 2026)
Our judges:
Peter Abando
Peter composes, directs, teaches, improvises, and performs all over Metro Vancouver. He’s currently working on two new Canadian musicals with local collaborators – Carolyn Nakagawa’s The New Canadians, and Davey Calderon’s Deep Fried.
Favourite shows include TUTS productions Something Rotten, Matilda, and School of Rock, a special charity concert of Dear Evan Hansen with Laughing Matters Theatre, 9 to 5: The Musical at Capilano University, and the Ovation nominated 2019 Vancouver Fringe hit, Amélie, with West Moon Theatre.
More recently, Peter was the music director and conductor for Mary Poppins with RCMT, and coming later this year, James and the Giant Peach with CTORA. He’s a former teaching artist for Vancouver Opera’s Project Opera, and is currently an instructor and accompanist for Gateway Academy with Gateway Theatre.
Peter has attended Chicago’s Second City Training Center and frequently flies to the Broadway Teachers Workshops in New York City. He has a BFA in music composition and a BEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Simon Fraser University.
Robin Hahn
Robin Hahn is a lyric soprano, stage director, CTC award-winning actor, music educator and disability advocate who has appeared on screens and stages around the world, with credits ranging from CBC shows to Disneyland parks. Hailed as “sublime, with a beautiful resonant soprano full of colour” (Opera Canada), her recent appearances include Hanna Glawary in The Merry Widow; Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors; and as a soprano soloist with the Music of the Night concert tour, performing Andrew Lloyd Webber favourites across Canada.
As a director, her recent reimagining of The Pirates of Penzance received the 2024 Ovation Award for Outstanding Artistic Achievement for “bold inclusivity casting and artistic risk-taking”. She is a co-founder of Opera Mariposa, Canada’s only 100% openly disability-led and -run opera company, and is a mentor for this year’s Access/VSA International Young Musicians Program at The Kennedy Center in New York.
